    What do you have to share with Music Educators and Music Students?

    We are currently looking for Guest Bloggers for our Blog.  We reach an audience of 8,000 - 10,000 music educators and students.  This is your time to shine and share your knowledge and expertise within the Music Education Community.  All blogs posted to iSchoolband are shared on our Facebook fan pages, The official Facebook Band Director Page, and to our twitter account.  Let your voice be heard!  
    If you are interested in writing 3-4 articles/posts a month for the entire school year, We will give you and your school a free iSchoolband account.  This is a savings of $149! 
    Some of the topics we would like you to write about are as follows: 
    1. What are you (Band Director) doing to stay current with technology in Music Education?
    2. What tips/tricks do you use to save you time managing your Band Family?
    3. How do you currently utilize iSchoolband to save time and better organize your Band Family?
    4. What are some good fundraiser ideas that have helped your program reach it's goals?
    5. Give a brief description of 4-5 online services that you recommend to your students to aid in the development of their music education?
    6. Write about a topic that touches your heart and feel it should be shared.

    Blog News - New Chief Contributing Editor Announced

    Student Blog Contest - How can Technology Improve Music Education

    March is national 'Music in Schools Month'.  We are hosting a contest for teen bloggers to write a blog post about 'How Technology Can Improve Music Education'.  This months prize is an iPod Touch 32 gig! If you have ever written a short essay, this will be easy. 

    Deadline for entries is March 15th. Winner will be announced in April! Stay tuned!

    The Future of Educational Technology – The New Toolbox By Stephen McClard 

    Thinking of what education might look like in the next decade, one quickly realizes that the trends in technology are leaving a large number of our students behind. We no longer live in an age of visible movement when it comes to progress and innovation. Today is an age of exponential change. New and ever-improving technologies are popping up every day and in every corner of society.

    Educating the best and the brightest in this brave new world will take a new and improved educational paradigm. Allowing our educational tools to age in the corner of the classroom will be the mistake that may cost us our future. Throwing away masses of children to inequitable access will ensure that we languish at the bottom of the global pool of employable workers for decades to come.

    The New Toolbox

    I was at an auction a few years ago and noticed a few old woodworking tools that I thought I could use. For a few bucks, I was able to snag an assortment of hand tools that may have been in someone’s toolbox for a generation or more.
